April 15, 2006 - After the response from the Pancho campaign, a retraction was printed by the Commercial Appeal concerning the remarks regarding Chumley's home phone number being published in the phone book and that Lewis' home phone number was not.
April 14, 2006 - An article on the Tipton County Sheriff's Race was printed in the Tipton County Edition of The Commercial Appeal today. The committee has taken steps to get a retraction printed concerning the remarks regarding Chumley's home phone number being published in the phone book and that Lewis' home phone number was not made public. The actual statement made was that Chumley has always tried to make himself available to the public, including having his home number in the phone book, and that he would continue to have a published number when he was elected sheriff. There was no mention of the status of Lewis' phone number and if the reporter would have checked her facts, she would have found that Lewis' number is indeed published in the phone book. This is certainly a fact that Chumley would be aware of and it is foolish to think that he would make any comment to the contrary.
